In 1980 I bought a tape from the Tate Gallery which included a sound art piece by Ian Breakwell and Ian McQueen. In the year 2000 I decide to use it in a tune, and sampled it to my heart's content. I added some bass and drum samples. The piano loop is apparently from a Franz Liszt piano concerto, which was itself "sampled" on their recording. This is the most "derivative" thing I've done, but done with some gusto and inspiration. And it was a lot of fun putting together. I remember giving this to a DJ at the Roadhouse in Manchester a couple of years later, and observing some mad dancing...
